A product page can look complete while leaving a shopping assistant without the fact a customer needs. An ingredient statement may be an image, the pack count may be buried in a title and a preparation detail may sit on an old page. Prepare your supplement catalog by making the important facts readable, consistent and available through the sources your agent actually uses.
Choose a representative collection first
Start with a collection that includes the questions your team receives: several similar names, a choice of formats and at least one product with multiple packs. This gives you a manageable way to check how the information is arranged.
Create a working sheet with one row per product and separate columns for the exact listing, format, pack quantity and approved label source. Record missing fields before connecting the agent. Keep the sheet as a review aid rather than treating it as an automatic integration.
Prepare readable ingredient and label text
Put a verified text version of the ingredient statement and relevant label information where the connected knowledge source can retrieve it. Keep ingredient names, amounts and units aligned with the current product. Resolve discrepancies between a packaging image and a description.
Store pack count and serving information separately. A clear structure helps a reviewer notice when a response confuses the quantity in the container with the quantity described by the label. Keep general ingredient education in its own approved source if you want the agent to use it.
- Identity: product name, format and the exact pack or listing.
- Composition: the approved ingredient statement and documented product attributes.
- Quantities: units, pack contents and the label’s stated serving basis.
- Directions: preparation or use information supplied for that product, where relevant.
Make pack and flavour options unambiguous
Check whether a format or pack is represented as a variant or as a separate product. Use consistent names so your team can recognise the intended selection. A shopper comparing two bottles should be able to tell which choice belongs to each listing.
Verify the price, currency context and availability of the selected option. Do this in the product card and the test cart as well as in the catalog. A correct product description does not guarantee that every displayed option is the same.
Verify which fields the agent can use
Shopify supports product details and custom fields, but storing a fact in Shopify does not prove that a particular assistant retrieves it. Check the actual connection and approved sources. Use a question whose answer appears in the field you want to verify.
Obsedia’s Supplements AI Agent lets merchants choose and maintain product and store knowledge. Confirm the information available in your configuration before relying on it for a response. Retest the same question after changing a source.
Give store policies their own source
Prepare the delivery and return pages your team wants the assistant to use. Make destinations, conditions and useful contact routes easy to find. Product descriptions should not have to carry every detail of a store-wide policy.
Test a policy question beside a product question in the same conversation. For example, a shopper may select a pack and then ask where to read the return conditions. Check that the answer uses the approved store page and keeps any relevant qualification.
Assign an owner and retest after changes
Choose who verifies a new label, corrects a description and approves a policy update. Give that person the test question and the expected source. A short, repeatable check is easier to maintain than a vague instruction to keep the assistant accurate.
Finish with a small set of original shopper questions. Check each answer, its source and any selected product option. Use the Obsedia supplement demonstration to review the interaction, then discuss your own catalog and knowledge requirements with the team.
Prepare facts in the places your agent can actually retrieve, then test them with specific questions. Catalog structure, source approval and maintenance all contribute to a useful product answer.
